FLASHPOINT MINIATURES INCOMING!!!

Postby Flashpoint Six Actual on Sun Mar 29, 2009 12:27 am

Hello Gentlemen and Extra Crispy :D

Firstly I apologise for the length of time it has taken for me to announce the going ons with Flashpoint Miniatures Ltd, as you can appreciate I have been busy getting things ready once again for relaunch, but due to a recent change in circumstances I have submitted and opted to bow out of pursuing Flashpoint Miniatures Ltd Vietnam and Middle East lines.

I have sold all Flashpoint Miniatures moulds (made prior to September 2008) for the Flashpoint Vietnam and Flashpoint Middle East ranges to Drew Byrkmire and Ken Cole (known to all on this forum as Tail End Charlie) of Siege Work Studios in Australia.

This decision came about as a result of several key changes in my life both personal and professional and I wish Siege Work Studios and the existing Flashpoint lines all the best in the future.

Siege Work Studios Australian Manufacturing facility that will be running the Flashpoint Miniatures moulds is up and running at full speed and is in eager anticipation for the moulds which will be leaving New Zealand shores shortly bound for Queensland Australia.

Ken Cole of Siege Work Studios has since informed me that first production should commence around April 2009 and all the existing ranges including the brand new US Army range released only 6 weeks prior to Flashpoint going into hiatus, the accompanying M113 never released, and the new NVA which were moulded and scheduled for release two weeks prior to our departure will be ready and available for purchase.

Siege Work Studios will continue to run the moulds under the Flashpoint Vietnam and Flashpoint Middle East brands, although the company name Flashpoint Miniatures Ltd and the business that I set up and grew remains the property of myself.

At this current point in time I will have no further association with the two lines I developed over the several year period that we operated and all rights associated with the moulds have now been passed over to Siege Work Studios.
Ken also informs me that their new website hosting the Flashpoint ranges will be up and running in the next 1-2 weeks however the url has changed to…
www.flashpoint-miniatures.com

Siege Work Studios have indicated that the packs previously offered by myself will receive a composition overhaul with attention to detail focussed on OOBs and other historical changes, the goods news also to this is that customers can expect a price reduction of up to 10% in accordance with the changes.

I wish Drew and Ken all the best for their future endeavour and look forward immensely to watching them grow the lines both current and in the future. Having worked with both of them in different contexts over the years I am sure that they will do a fantastic job launching into this new period (for them) and growing it for the benefits of the customers.

A big thank all of you who have supported myself and Flashpoint Miniatures Ltd over the years, its been a wild ride and I have enjoyed being part of this community.

As to what new ventures I will be releasing in the future…watch this space.

Kindest regards
Anton Ducrot

Wow... that's big news Anton. Thanks for letting us know. For myself I wish you well on your future endeavours, and I hope Seige Works doesn't leave us hanging for too long.

Did you not sculpt the Flashpoint range yourself? And if so, who's going to sculpt the continuation of the range?

Hey Todd
Yeah I did sculpt the range myself...
Who continues it will be up to Siege Work to decide mate....

Basically the decision came about only recently, I had entered and agreement with a friend (as everyone knows) late last year. I was basing the relaunch of FP Vietnam on the basis that my friend could create our extensive miniature vehicle range for us.

Month after month passed (7 in fact) and despite continuous reflection upon schedules... a very lovely half finished huey and a bunch of excuses remained the only product on offer.... unfortunately the success of running a business depends heavily on the understanding and agreement upon deadlines.

Hence I decided to part ways and now without the capacity to design my own vehicle range decided there were other options to pursue, as well as a new career opportunity that has recently presented itself.

My own figure ranges will continue but with the prospect of going to design for Weta Workshop now on the books my time will be shared.
Watch this space though as I have a number of miniature projects on the bench at this point in time.

Thanks for your continued support mate.

Anton

Thanks Anton for kicking off this discussion.

As Anton stated above Siege Works Studios of Brisbane Australia has succedded in purchasing the Flashpoint range and Flashpoint Miniatures trading name from Anton and we will be rereleasing the range starting in mid April 2009.

I will post pics of the new M113, which I think everyone will be over joyed with, as soon as possible and also pics of the never previously released NVA Reloaded range.

We will be continuing to develope the range and your ideas and requests on how we can best do that will be very much appreciated.

We are still in discussions with Anton to continue as the sculptor of the Flashpoint range.

Siege Works Studios are also heavily involved in miniature rules, miniatures, terrain and accessories in other era's as can be seen at http://www.koenigkrieg.com.

Vietnam is a passion of mine and has been since my time as an officer in the Australian Defence Force. So we are not FNG's to minis, rules or this era and are ready to serve.

So, don't hold back, tell us what you would like from the new Flashpoint range.

The new website at a slightly changed http://www.flashpoint-miniatures.com (notice the added "-") will be up and running within a week or two at the latest. (Todd, could you please change the link on the FoFR home page)

For now you can get me at ken@siegeworksstudios.com
Catch you in the boonies.

Hi Everyone,

I am the other Director of Siege Works Studios (SWS), Drew Birkmyre.

We here at SWS are very excited about this very recent purchase. We have already begun setting up the website, although this may take a bit of time as both Ken and I are heavily engaged in finishing the final formatting, for our first Horse and Musket Rulebook and Army Lists Books.

We shall be adding to the ranges for Vietnam and our Heroic 15mm Scale Middle East Ranges.

As has already been stated the M113 will arrive soon to Australian Shores ready for sale soon after. Our Manufacturing facility is well and truly up and running and as soon as the moulds arrive on Australian soil, (in transit as we speak) casting will begin.

Early days, but the Rules and Development team at SWS have been tossing around a few ideas for a set of Moderns/Vietnam rules and with the purchase of the range those experiments will definantly be upgraded to a priority. Maybe we shall see a new Vietnam set for end of '09 or start of '10

Certainly after June, when our ACW rules begin preproduction we will start looking seriously at a set of company level Vietnam rules. Just keep checking www.flashpoint-miniatures.com for updates and info over the next few months....

Regards Drew

Guys, thanks for the info and the updates. I'd be more than happy to promote discussions on what we'd all (us 15mm Flashpoint fans I mean) like to see from FP minis.

TEC, I'm changing the link as we speak.

Looking forward to seeing what's coming in the coming months from you guys and do feel free to use this community to make announcements and gain feedback. Proud to help.

Hooray! Glad to hear the range is back! My stock is pathetically low, so as soon as you are up and running expect a major re-stock order from me!

I'm really glad that the minis will continue to be produced, and more rules are always welcome. Vietnam is somewhat of a niche, and the more we can get out there, the more it can grow. I'm all for that!

Well I for one hope the discussions with Anton end favourably as I'm a fan of his work. Having a range sculpted by two different sculptors (or more) may not go over as well as one might think. Chiltern is a good example of this.

Just my .02.

I have over 30 boxes of the old figures as yet unpainted and unbased, do you see the basing changing or will it be just the configuration on the base.

Shooter,

The base sizes will remain the same, the config may change.

Most of the original OOB's were ok, the packs just didn't relate to the OOB's in some circumstances.

Kloejgaard,

You are correct in that I was running a small group of guys on Anton's behalf in re-writiing the rules. All that stopped when Anton first moved to AUstralia and it never re-started.

Until now :D

A new team, with some of the old members and a couple of new guys are back at it. We have just about established the criteria for the re-write and the steps we will take. We will be using the original verson and the work for the re-write as a reference to work from.

There is no time frame on this yet and getting the figures back into production is the primary objective right now but there will be a new set of rules out, hopefully before the end of the year.
