"OTB - the McGyver of Nam wargaming." :roflmao

I'm going to make that my byline since my avatar pic of that miniskirted Detroit girl rock band on tour in Nam has somehow vanished into the ether... :huh

Firebase McDonald...

A couple of years ago, I found 4 bases from McDonald's toys at my favourite local charity store for 20 cents each that have been gathering dust for some time. Last week, I finally sorted them out:

It was a psychological process that involved overcoming my long-standing aversion to making sandbags....

Once I got started though, I knocked off the construction side of things in a couple of days and quickly moved on to painting them:

For comparison purposes, the bunker at the back is a commercial resin casting I mail-ordered a few years ago:

The roofs come off so you can place units inside the bunkers if necessary:

Also suitable for a firebase or camp are these two tents, taken from 2 cheap plastic toy trucks I picked up in another charity store:

And, to finish off, here are the remaining two McDonald's toy bases, both of which featured a giant tree stump, so I turned them into something you might encounter deep in the jungle:
