SAIGON 75 - soon to be published

Postby bonzillou » Tue Jan 17, 2017 7:54 am

Hi

For two years I've been working on a wargame (boardgame) covering the final events of the Nam (summer 73 to spring 75).
Yes no US involved only vietnamese, brother against brother.

It is a light wargame, playing time is 1 hour for players who know the system; the rules are explained in 15mn and the map is smaller than a kitchen table.

A publisher has picked up the game and it is planned to be published before the end of the year.
Link to the publisher's website:

We have an amazing artist on board, the game will be fun and beautiful.

Pascal,
Excellent news, 1971-75 is a period of particular period to me, so I'll definitely pick-up a copy. What photos are you looking for?

Hi
apparently the publisher has a deal for illustrating the game, so everything is ok.

I will give you some news about the game as soon as I have some material to showcase.

Cheers

Hi

the artist has started working on the game.
The publisher told me that we'll have some stuff to showcase by springtime.

Hi

Saigon 75 is that type of game that stands between a boardgame and a wargame. It is easy to play and learn (when I demo the game it usually takes me 15mn to explain the rules and the players are good to go), but the mechanics allow for a lot of strategic possibilities. Playing time is 1 hour.
My goal was to create a 2-player game playable by wargamers and boardgamers, in an hour and on a kitchen table. Yes you can bring it when you have a week-end trip and play it with your fiancee!

The divisions and batallions are represented by wooden cubes and Vietnam is divided in zones (which equal the actual provinces). Of course you could use minis to replace the wooden blocks (For a matter of fact I use a 28mm VC as turn counter).
But you should have minis for NVA divisions, VC batallions, ARVN Divisions, Rangers, Paratroops, mechanised Units, Riverine, Marines and of course aerial support.

Sounds quite interesting! Looking forwards to this.
Grunt Sgt: "We got 6 confirmed kills..."
Intel Officer: "NVA or VC?"
Grunt Sgt: "Monkeys. And they didn't say what side they were on."
